Hi Linda,

Not that I can recall though it may well have done as there used to be quite a few ornamental ducks and geese at Rossmere Park. Ward Jackson Park has one as well.

Thanks.Mr. Forrest, we, as knowing nowt, have puzzled over that bird for ages. Do you know if it has ever had companions in Rossmere?

Can anyone who knows wildfowl in Rossmere Park, Hartlepool tell me what the solitary duck with the red turkey like beak is? Is it some Muscovy duck cross?

Thanks.

The mystery Raptor sounds like the Gyr cross Saker Falcon that was lost a month or two ago. By a guy called Ben who owns a falconry centre in Thirsk. He has a contract at the college were I work and he flys his birds off our roof to scare the gulls. He has quite a few Gyr/ Sakers and they all vary in colour. If its not his, it's quite possible it will be someone elses. Flaconers use Gyr crosses but they are very unpredictable, and have a tendancy to take off.

Directions to Wykeham Forest viewpoint.
A170 from Scarborough, turn right at Wykeham towards Bee Dale, keep on road until T junction, turn left on for about 200 yds and you will see Raptor viewpoint sign. Hope you have better luck than me last week.
Look at car park space in front of you at T junction as lots of tit / jay etc feed on large rock and feeders there.

Bousefield Marsh this a.m. 8.30 to 10.30. Not many birds, but saw 2 Roe (I think) deer swim across the Tees. One scrambled out but the other turned abd swam back to the Bousefield side and got out. Very strong swimmers! Also just beyond the gate on the path walking "upstream" I saw a seal. I did not know they got above the Barrage, let alone this far up. Saw singles of Fieldfare, siskin and L T tit which was a bit odd for birds which usually flock.
