Is it too early for Ring Ouzels? I disturbed a flock of about ten black birds at the top of Ingleby Incline at 10 this morning. They were very wary and flew offin pairs just far enough to prevent me getting a positive identification. I have seen a breeding pair there in the summer.

First swallows of the year at hurworh burn reservoir.
Also sighted there are a pair of herons but are not our native ones.
These birds have grey and black clourings and are constantly mobbed by gulls.
Would be grateful if anyone can help me on the identification of these birds.
