Dick,

Have you considered Mediterranean Gull in winter plumage? They are basically pure white like an Ivory Gull and a far better candidate than Ivory Gull given the rarity and location in which you had the sighting.

Cheers

Friday 22nd Feb whilst driving onto Majuba Road Redcar from the prom. A pure white gull flew gracefully across the road heading towards the sea. I was a little bigger than the black headed, 3 or 4 of which flew with it. I am certain that it was an Ivory Gull which I last saw in Saltburn in Feb.1986. I have reported it to Tom Francis (Recorder for Cleveland I understand) but have not received any comments. Have you had any other reports. By the time it was safe to stop the car it had disappeared.

Would be interested in your comments.
many thanks
Dick
